yeah i know what your sayin. but all im sayin is that personally i prefer the raw sound that comes from the band alone...but thats only because i'm so used to it from playing with my bands in that kinda situation...if that makes sense??

LOL so you spent 2 pages arguing with me about how you liked passive pickups and then went out and bought an active pickup bass; what a idiot

I'm gonna have to agree with you on that one cdh... that just made this thread completely pointless.

dude, the SRX700 is basically the exact same bass as the MDB01. Mike D'Antonio modelled his bass after the SRX700. It has giant humbucking passive pickups...So, i'm not an idiot buddy!

dude its got active electronics, a 2 band eq. And a slot for a 9 volt battery Which makes it... have active pickups... although... i was told that the srx900 series are also active.... by a 2nd person... that would mean... humbuckers are now active pickups?

why's it fucked up? EMG has been making that active humbucker since 1979. Its not like this is new news. A humbucker is a type of pickup, it doesnt necessarily have to be passive or active

Yeah, i was unaware of such news. I was very well aware that EMG has been making humbucking pickups for quite a while. I was going to get a J-Pack for my jazz bass, but i was unaware that they can be both active and passive. I only new they could be active. It's fucked up that I've looked at these pickups for a hell of a long time and i was unaware of such features...lol

best I can tell you is go to the pickup manufactuer's website for detailed info. I'm a Seymore Duncan man myself. And if you decide to add active pickups to a bass with passive pickups make damn sure you got enough room for the battery in the back and realize you may have to cut holes in the body to get the extra knobs on the bass
